Youth Basketball is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. The Y promises no try outs, no getting cut and no benchwarmers! Every child plays while making friends and learning new techniques. Our basketball program is character driven so kids develop all of their skills, from passing and dribbling, to teamwork and sportsmanship. Just as important, they learn firsthand the benefits of being healthy and active and that virtual games just can't compare to the real thing. We are committed to an "everyone plays" philosophy, so all children are active, engaged and having fun.

Meet Coach Stephen Christensen, Basketball Coordinator
Once cut from his high school team, but with childhood dreams of playing at the Collegiate Division-1 level, Stephen chose not to let that single judgement dictate his future. Through his hard work and determination, he was able to achieve his dream by playing at Portland State University. Most recently, Stephen spent the 2014-15 season coaching at Lane Community College (OR) where he was in charge of the team's player development program. He also spent this summer assisting in the training of NBA players and coaching at college camps throughout California.
Become a Volunteer Coach
Youth Basketball utilizes volunteer head coaches, assistant coaches and scorekeepers to focus on participation and fun. Coaches build player confidence and skills, teach the value of team work and sportsmanship and share their passion for the sport.

Youth Basketball helps kids not only become better players, but better people as well. With multiple age levels, each child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition, and family involvement.
Practices: Each team will have one 60-minute practice per week. During this time, the players will receive individual instruction in shooting, passing, dribbling, and rebounding.
The Burbank Community YMCA and Showcase Basketball have come together to collaborate on the upcoming Basketball Academy and Personal Coaching for boys and girls ages 6-18. The programs are designed to focus on skill development to prepare athletes for the next level of competition. Open to YMCA members and non-members.
BASKETBALL ACADEMY is the premier youth basketball player development pro-gram, bringing high level teaching to youth basketball players in a fun and positive set-ting. Every participant will receive training gear, group instruction from an NBA experi-enced coach, and a number of other benefits. Trainings are age and skill specific with a structured training progression to maximize each players development of basketball skills and basketball IQ, ensuring they "train like a pro".
PERSONAL COACHING provides the highest level of individual basketball skill in-struction. These 1-on-1 training sessions allow for the participant to receive individual attention while training with an NBA experienced coach to develop their all-around bas-ketball skills. The individual attention maximizes development by focusing on many de-tails that go unnoticed in large group settings.
